I hope by now you all know that Simple has a new blog!
The Simple Blog is www.simplescrapbooks.typepad.com.
The Simple Studio Blog is www.simplescrapbooks.typepad.com/simple_studio.
Wendy Smedley is the blog hostess for the Studio blog, and Angie Lucas for the Simple blog. At the Simple blog, Angie gives behind the scenes info, sneak peaks, runs challenges and contests, and just keeps you abreast of the Simple world. The Studio blog is currently rotating through the Simple Board Members. You know I had the opportunity and privilege of running the Studio a few weeks ago(beginning 10.13). Then Cheryl had a turn (week beginning 10.20). And Elizabeth (week beginning 10.27). And this week Tina is there. Be sure to stop by as each Tuesday there is a challenge with prizes. Further there is design advice, journaling discussions, a day of favorites, how to's and much much more.
This week we are busily promoting our new issue, Quick & Easy Photo Albums. (Available for preorder here. Order now, order soon, you won't be sorry...
So here is the skinny. We have always known that we cannot/should scrapbook every photo we take. This became even more clear as we jumped on the digital wagon. Since April 2004, I have taken nearly 42000 pictures. I have neither the time, money, nor energy to scrapbook even a fraction of these. Which gives me heartburn sometimes, I must admit, though I work through it. No, actually, the heartburn is not bad as I know, truly know, and fully believe that many of those photo belong in the recycle bin. Others, belong in a copmuter folder backed up no fewer than three times. A few hundred each year will make the cut for printing and photo album storage. And a narrow and select group will make the grade for the scrapbook world. I narrow these photos to a manageable amount, usually. Sometimes I can't seem to give some up, and then a mini album is in order. And sometimes those minialbums are decorative, and sometimes they are functional. Enter photo album scrapbooking. It is a way to plow through a stack of photos and get them scrapbooked without making you go grey. Like my Sweetwater photos. I took so many. Now I can put them in a photo album with some embellishments and have an album to remember and celebrate my time there. This also works great for travel albums, baby albums, events, and seasonal celebrations (like all those hundreds of pool photos i take each year...).
Here is Stacy's example of how to accomplish this:
Here is another example by Elizabeth Dillow:
To take things one step further, I have an extra idea for you. Please pardon the photos, today was incredibly grey outside...
In my photoalbums, I have often longed for the stories to be present. I write the 5 w's on the backs of the photos, but I have secretly desired a bit more space to journal. This amazing special issue has sparked an idea for me. Why not make my photo albums a bit more? So I did. This is the first half of our October 2008 family photo album.
The month begins with a highlights card. Then each set of photos has accompanying 4x6 journaling cards. The great benefit of this is that all my memories are now preserved and the dates and Ws of the photos noted. Now if it takes me 15 years to scrapbook a photo, all the pertinent info is available. How about that??? Slick. Slicker. Slickerama...

If you have made it through all those pages, congratulations! teehee. Hope you enjoy this idea and don't forget to try your hand at a photo album scrapbook. They really are freeing.Lastly, don't forget to post your entry. Directions are at the Simple Studio Blog! There are prizes...
