i spy

today is permission to have to try and try and try and try and try to get a page just right. sometimes things fall together so smoothly. and sometimes they don't. today was the latter. this page took a couple of variations and permutations before it arrived at its final state. today, go easy on yourself. it's okay to have to start over. and over. and over. and well, you understand! just remember to not get frustrated. there is no right and wrong. it's about the process, too. enjoy it. or take a time out. (i'd also suggest dove chocolates. i prefer the milky ones! :o))

wild for letter stickers!!!!!!!!!

so you have probably guessed that i am having a g-i-a-n-t crush on letter stickers right now. my favorites are from american crafts (oooh, big surprise there! not!) but sei has some fun ones too. American crafts sing to me as they have such fun colors, fonts, and sizes. SEI has those puffy ones and who can forget this?
today, find (at least) five letter sticker sheets and create a whimsical title. have fun with those stickers. and remember, you didn't buy them to hoarde them. there will always be another cute one!

five after cardstock

today is minimalist day. we all do better when we are limited. [children crave boundaries. how many times have you heard that? see? so do women with scrapbook supplies!]
begin with cardstock. that one is free. anything after that is a new product. including your photo. have fun! good luck! repeat after me, white space is my friend. white space is my friend. white space is my friend...

(oh, and just know that often, these simple simple pages are my most favorites in the long run...)

take five minutes off

the morning after halloween is a time to rest. a time to recognize that you deserve a break today. so what better gift can you give yourself than the gift of time. so today is five minutes off day. or thirty if that is what a new page would take. today you will simply and happily reinvent something. a second copy of a page for the sibling's album. or scraplift your easiest page. something that lets you have a moment of play with your paper and scissors but also that gives you time to go put those halloween decorations away.

Five Minutes to Pick

Do you remember back in the day when you would pick up your photos from the lab and then pick out a few of the doubles to scrapbook? It was all so easy. I was poor and took one roll per month. (Couldn't afford more film or developing!) This meant each month I would have just a few photos to choose from. Generally about three a month. Now, fast forward to my digital present. Since January, I have taken nearly 12000 pictures. Some of them are yucky and easily discarded, about 1000 are for others, and the rest, well, they suck my in. Many hours I spend sorting, labeling, editing, printing. So today, I went to the folder of a day that had some photos I wanted to use, and I gave myself 5 minutes to pick the photos. Then of course I had to size, edit, and print, but hey! at least the picking was fast!
Today, find a folder of shots and take just 5 minutes to pick out your pictures. It's fun, I promise!

1. photo - can't even believe i caught this on film. too precious for words.
2. title stickers - AC (surprise! not...) foam thickers.
3. patterned paper - SEI kitty line (again teehee!)
4. patterned paper that reverses to plain! (sneaky me, got in an extra product that way!)
5. font - a good old standby. CK Toggle. Love the feel. Have for years...(i'll look for some proof for you!)

five minutes

except for needing to futz with a staple (my staple arm wasn't long enough to reach the ribbon's end) this was my attempt at five minutes.

Okay, so i went a tiny bit over, should I rip it up and start over??!! teehee. Actually, everything was completed in five minutes but for the assembly and writing out the journaling. So today take five minutes. Pick a photo, supplies, and quickly and efficiently pat yourself on the back. Sometimes the lack of freedom for time really helps push the creative juices! (think of a college paper deadline...aha! now you have the feeling! sweaty palms, nervous energy, sinking feeling in your stomach...) Now go! take five right now. Don't wait. You only have five minutes to collect or your photo will explode. GO. FAST!

today is 5 products

i was thinking today's five might be five minutes, but who am i kidding? i soooo cannot do a layout in five minutes. so i was a bit more practical and went with five products instead.

yummy yummy new paper. was strolling thru archivers and saw it. it is from bobunny and has a delicious texture. i liked it enough to buy a yellow, an orange, and a pink. hooray! another sandylion stamp. went with black ink as i couldn't decide.  this is my sweet baby. we went to some friends' home for a round of american idol singalong (so doesn't compare to ps2 singstar, btw) and lavender was checking out their walker. she was so happy! keep in mind that their house is 6000 square feet, so she had plenty of room to roll! at my house it would be more like driving in traffic!!

totally guessed that blondie was going home on antm. my favorite part, though was when the girls were doing a mock elimination. they had tyra down to a "T!" too funny.
